Fitness to Practice

Our Fitness to Practice insurance policy ensures you have cover for the legal expenses incurred as a result of legal advice before, and representation during, a Health and Care Professions Council Fitness to Practice hearing.

The Health and Care Professions Council keep a register of professionals who meet their standards for training, professional skills and behaviour. Through their Fitness to Practice processes, the HCPC can take action if a registrant (a professional on the HCPC’s register) falls below the required standards

When the HCPC say that someone is “fit to practice‟ they mean that person has the skills, knowledge and character to practice their profession safely and effectively. However, fitness to practice is not just about professional performance; it also includes acts by a registrant which may have an impact on public protection or confidence in the profession or the regulatory process which may also include matters not directly related to professional practice.

Representation by a Medico-legal solicitor or Barrister could cost up to £8,000 per day and it has been known for fees of £50,000 for representation to have occurred in regulatory cases.

Our Fitness to Practice insurance policy could provide you with invaluable legal advice before and legal representation during, a HCPC Fitness to Practice hearing.

Abaco Insurance Brokers has extensive knowledge and experience in the Private Ambulance and Paramedic Insurance sector and can provide advice on arranging a Fitness to Practice insurance policy that provides you with adequate cover.
